7 Travel Writing Markets that Pay $100 or More

Travel Writing can be a wonderful way to earn money as a freelance writer. Here are 7 markets for freelance writers to consider submitting to. The pay rates for these markets varies quite a bit. I’ve only included publications in this list that were up front about their payments, or where I had a reliable source.

The Viator Travel Blog accepts pitches for feature length contributions. They want to share an “insider’s view of travel.” They focus on more traditional tourism. MotorHome, the magazine for RV enthusiasts, covers all aspects of the RV lifestyle. They accept queries, and pay writers up to $900 an article. According to their guidelines ”

Travel + Leisure Magazine pays $1 a word. The vast majority of their writing is from freelance writers. They have a very large audience, with a circulation of 950,00.
